Mind to muscle connection

Once you build a good mind to muscle connection you will see your physique truly change. This takes time, years in fact, but with every session, every set, every rep you get the opportunity to practice the bio mechanics and technique behind the movement. Building a good physique is just as much mental as it is physical. When you perform a exercise you should be focusing on actually feeling that area stretch and contract. A good example I’m sure everyone has seen would be the bicep curl. Most people will overload their entire upper body by curling too much weight and using momentum while assisting muscles actually perform a significant amount of the exercise leaving little stimulus to the bicep itself. Instead the weight should be light enough to where when you perform the movement the only thing that moves is your elbow from the hinging motion that occurs at your elbow joint. If your biceps aren’t growing and your feel anything other than your bicep when performing a bicep curl, chances are your mind to muscle connection is poor and you need to lower the weight. Again this is directed at any muscle your trying to target, The greater the mental connection you can have with the muscle, the better that muscle will grow.
